AI SEO Services Built on the Authority Engineering Framework

Enleaf is an AI SEO agency that builds visibility inside AI search results: Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT search, Perplexity citations, Gemini answers, and Claude responses. Our AI SEO work runs on Authority Engineering, the framework our founder Adam Chronister laid out in his 2026 book of the same name. The core idea: AI systems name brands that multiple independent credible sources validate as authoritative. Backlink count and blog cadence alone do not produce that signal. Repeated third-party validation across credible environments does.

PROVEN AI SEO METHODOLOGY

Deep Expertise in AI SEO That Earns Citations

AI SEO is the work of getting your brand named when an AI system answers a question in your category. It runs on consensus signals, entity authority, and content built to be cited. If your brand is invisible in AI answers, the fix lives in the work we do here.

Founder wrote the book on it

Adam Chronister published “Authority Engineering: How to Become the Brand AI Recommends” in 2026, the framework Enleaf runs for AI SEO clients.

Featured in the Wall Street Journal for early AI work

Our team has been working with AI in content and search for years before the current wave.

Full AI SEO program

Entity authority, brand consensus building, schema markup, structured data, content for AI extraction, original research, knowledge panel work, and brand mention reclamation.

Tracked across every AI surface

Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, plus traditional Google search.

Built on top of real SEO foundations

Technical SEO, content depth, and entity work are still required. AI SEO sits on top of strong SEO, not in place of it.

17+ years of search experience

Founded 2009. AI SEO is the next chapter, not a pivot away from search.

What AI SEO Actually Is

AI SEO is the discipline of getting your brand named when an AI system answers a question in your category. It is not a rebranding of traditional SEO. The mechanism is different.

Adam, from Authority Engineering: “Old SEO asked: how do I get search engines to send people to my page? Authority Engineering asks: when an AI system is deciding what to say in response to a question about my category, why would it name my company instead of my competitors?

The customer journey has changed. People used to type a query, scan a list of ten blue links, click through, and decide. Now they ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Google AI Overviews a direct question and get a synthesized answer that names two or three companies. The brands named in that answer get the consideration.

The rest stay invisible.
Adam, on what is at stake: “One of the very first things you see at the top of the fold is AI overviews. Everything else gets pushed down, even Google Ads. Your traditional organic results are completely below the fold.

The shift is structural. Your AI SEO program either gets you into the answer or it does not.

The Consensus Signal: Why Traditional SEO Tactics Stop Producing AI Visibility

The mechanism behind AI search results is consensus, not ranking. Adam, from his book: “Authority Engineering is the intentional design of your brand’s digital footprint so that algorithms, AI systems, and human audiences all arrive at the same conclusion independently: this is a trusted source.”

What that means in practice: when a large language model answers a category question, it is not pulling a single optimized page off a results list. It is reading patterns across thousands of sources at once, looking for brands that multiple independent credible sources reference in connection with the topic.

Adam: LLMs don’t use backlinks, for the most part. It’s usually consensus. Can I see a wide consensus of information that can be correlated and validated across data points? And then if so, I’m more likely to present that in search.”

A perfectly written page on your own website is one source making one claim about itself. AI systems treat that as a single-source signal, the same way a human treats a brand that only ever talks about itself. Consensus requires independent voices: industry publications, expert quotes, podcast mentions, research citations, professional communities, all referencing your brand in connection with the same topics, repeatedly, over time.
Backlink count and blog volume do not produce that pattern. Independent third-party validation does.

Authority Engineering is the discipline of producing that pattern deliberately, not by manufacturing fake signals, but by doing the real work that earns independent validation: publishing insights worth citing, getting your experts into the conversations journalists are already having, and building a brand presence across the credible environments AI systems pull from.

How AI SEO Differs From Traditional SEO

Traditional SEO

Traditional SEO targets a position on a search engine results page. The goal is a click. Tactics: keyword research, on-page optimization, backlinks, technical SEO, content cadence. The metric is rank.

AI SEO

AI SEO targets inclusion in a generated answer. The goal is a name-drop. Tactics: entity authority, schema and structured data, content written for AI extraction, original data and frameworks worth citing, brand mentions across credible publications, knowledge graph and Wikipedia presence. The metric is whether your brand appears when ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, or Google AI Overviews answer a question in your category.

Why both still matter

Adam, from his book: “Even the search engines pre-LLMs started to roll out things like E-E-A-T, because they recognize that is the most unique identifier that predicts if a business is legitimate or not.”

E-E-A-T (experience, expertise, authoritativeness, trust) is the bridge between traditional SEO and AI SEO. The signals Google has been weighting more heavily since 2018 are the same signals AI systems read at scale. A site that does not pass E-E-A-T checks is unlikely to show up in AI answers either.

AI SEO does not replace traditional SEO. It sits on top of it. A weak technical and content foundation produces weak AI visibility too.

"When an AI system is deciding what to say about my category, why would it name my company instead of my competitors? That question changes almost everything."

What Makes Us Different

What an Enleaf AI SEO Program Covers

We run AI SEO as a structured program with four interconnected workstreams. Adam, from his book: “When these four elements function together as a system rather than as isolated tactics, something important happens. Your brand stops competing for attention through individual marketing efforts. It becomes embedded within the knowledge networks that shape discovery.”

1. Foundational knowledge infrastructure

Your website becomes a structured knowledge platform, not a brochure. Topical clusters, deep educational content on the concepts your buyers research, schema markup that connects pages to entities, and the internal architecture AI crawlers use to map your authority on a subject. We audit every page against this standard and rebuild what is not pulling its weight. Adam: “A lot of the things I see is either the website structure is not conducive to being crawled. Maybe they have a lot of orphan pages, their hierarchy or their sitemap structure or navigational structure is way too deep.”

2. Entity authority and topic association

AI systems work on entities, not strings. Your brand needs to be a recognized entity (Knowledge Graph, Wikidata, Wikipedia where appropriate, clear sameAs schema connecting your social and review profiles), and that entity needs to be associated with the topics you want to own. We do entity audits, fix entity coverage gaps, and build the schema-and-mention architecture that ties your brand to your category at the AI’s knowledge graph level.

3. Distributed visibility and brand consensus

This is the workstream most agencies skip and the one that does the heaviest lifting in AI SEO. Authority cannot live only on the platform you control. We run digital PR, expert positioning, podcast outreach, and contributed-content placement so your brand and your experts are referenced by independent credible sources, not just by you. Adam: “Authority cannot live only on the platform you control. A brand visible exclusively on its own website presents a single-source signal.”

4. Original research and reference content

The fastest way to get cited in AI answers is to publish content other people cite. Original surveys, original frameworks, original data, and analysis that reframes a problem in a useful way: these get picked up by journalists, referenced by competitors, and ingested by AI systems as the source for category-defining concepts. We build the research, write it up in a citation-ready format, and seed it with the journalists and communities who would naturally reference it.

Our Process

How We Run an AI SEO Engagement

Here is the step-by-step engagement we run for every AI SEO client, from the first visibility audit through the authority work that makes a brand citable across the major AI systems.

1

Step 1: AI visibility audit

We open ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, and Claude and ask the questions a real customer would ask in your category. We record which brands the systems name, which sources they cite, what language they use, and where you do or do not show up. The audit is the diagnostic. It tells us exactly which layer of your authority is missing.

2

Step 2: Entity and consensus mapping

We map your current entity coverage (Knowledge Graph, schema, Wikipedia/Wikidata, business profiles, sameAs links), audit your brand mentions across the open web, and benchmark you against the competitors who do appear in AI answers. The output is a written gap analysis showing exactly where the work needs to happen.

3

Step 3: Authority strategy

We deliver a 12-month Authority Engineering plan covering the four workstreams above: knowledge infrastructure, entity authority, distributed visibility, and original research. The plan is sequenced. Adam, from his book: “The layers do not require simultaneous effort. They activate sequentially. The work at each layer creates the conditions that make the next layer possible without starting from zero.”

4

Step 4: Execution

We execute the plan: rebuild the knowledge architecture, deploy the schema, fix entity coverage, run digital PR campaigns, place contributed content, build out original research, and reclaim brand mentions that are currently uncredited.

5

Step 5: Measurement

We run a monthly AI visibility check across the major systems and report which questions you are now appearing in, which competitors you have displaced, and which content or PR placements are driving the lift. Traditional SEO metrics (organic traffic, rankings, conversions) run alongside as the second tracking layer.

Our Process

What Makes Enleaf Different on AI SEO

Most businesses that come to us have already tried tagging entities or chasing AI SEO tactics elsewhere and seen little movement in the answers. The teams who move their AI SEO to Enleaf tend to cite the same handful of reasons.

Our founder wrote the framework.

Adam Chronister published “Authority Engineering: How to Become the Brand AI Recommends” in 2026. The book is the AI SEO methodology Enleaf runs for clients, written down, with the case studies and the diagnostic tests included. Most agencies are still figuring out what AI SEO means. Ours has shipped a book on it.

We were doing AI before the current wave.

Adam: “Our team has been using AI content for a long time and not hiding it. I was featured in a Wall Street Journal article because at the time we were using another AI tool, which at that time was relatively new in the category.” We built the AI muscle when AI in marketing was still niche, which means our internal tooling and our process are years past the basic playbooks circulating on Twitter.

AI SEO sits on top of real SEO.

Most AI SEO offers we see in the market are entity tagging plus a schema audit. That is not a program. AI SEO without strong technical SEO, content depth, and a real link and PR profile underneath is a very expensive label change. Enleaf has run technical and content SEO since 2009, which means the AI work has the foundation it needs.

We tell you what AI SEO will not do.

We will tell you when AI SEO is not the right first investment. If your traditional organic foundation is broken, fixing AI visibility before fixing the basics is wasted spend. We say so on the first call rather than selling you the work.

We measure against the AI surfaces, not vanity metrics.

Every AI SEO engagement reports on actual AI mentions across the major systems, not on a made-up “AI visibility score” from a single tool. The diagnostic test is open: ask ChatGPT and Perplexity the questions your buyers ask. If you show up, the work is producing. If you do not, we know where to push.

FAQs

AI SEO FAQ

Straight answers to the questions we hear most often on strategy calls.

Is AI SEO real or is it a marketing buzzword?

Is AI SEO real or is it a marketing buzzword?

Both. The label is recent and the market is full of agencies repackaging schema-and-keywords decks under a new name. The underlying mechanism is real: AI search results work on consensus across credible sources, and that consensus is something a marketing program can actually produce. The diagnostic test is free. Open ChatGPT and ask the questions your customers ask. Either your brand shows up or it does not. If it does not, an AI SEO program has work to do.

How is AI SEO different from GEO and AEO?

How is AI SEO different from GEO and AEO?

AI SEO is the umbrella term for visibility inside AI systems. GEO (generative engine optimization) is the cluster focused on AI Overviews, ChatGPT search, Perplexity, Gemini, and Claude. AEO (answer engine optimization) is more specific: structuring content for direct-answer formats, voice assistants, and question-driven queries. The three overlap. We use AI SEO as the program label and run GEO and AEO as workstreams inside it.

Will AI SEO replace traditional SEO?

Will AI SEO replace traditional SEO?

No. Traditional SEO is a prerequisite for AI SEO, not a competitor to it. AI systems pull from the same web traditional search engines crawl. A site with broken technical SEO, thin content, and no third-party authority is invisible to both. AI SEO sits on top. Adam puts it this way: “Even though the quantity of traffic seems in aggregate to be decreasing, the quality for a lot of verticals is actually going up. You have a more definitive definition of what you’re looking for, you spend less time and have more of that buyer intent built in.” Traditional SEO is still where the foundation gets built. AI SEO is where the consideration moment now happens.

How much does an AI SEO program cost?

How much does an AI SEO program cost?

Cost depends on your category competitiveness, the size of the existing authority gap, and whether traditional SEO is bundled in. The real work, content with real depth, original research, expert positioning, and digital PR, takes a serious investment, so we do not run AI SEO as a thin entity-tagging package. On the first call we propose a scope sized to your starting point and give you a specific number.

How long does AI SEO take to produce results?

How long does AI SEO take to produce results?

Faster than most people assume. Adam describes the consensus mechanism as “sensitive, responsive, and begins forming from the very first distributed signal.” A focused PR push around a credible accomplishment can shift an AI’s confidence threshold inside weeks. Sustained category dominance takes longer: a typical client starts seeing brand mentions appear in AI answers around month three, with the program compounding through months six to twelve.

Do I need to be on Wikipedia for AI SEO to work?

Do I need to be on Wikipedia for AI SEO to work?

A Wikipedia article helps, but it is not required. What matters is the underlying entity coverage: Knowledge Graph presence, structured data on your own site, sameAs links connecting your social and business profiles, and consistent third-party references that AI systems can cross-validate. We work on Wikipedia where the business genuinely qualifies for an article. We do not build pay-to-play Wikipedia pages, which are the kind that get deleted within weeks.

What categories does AI SEO work for?

What categories does AI SEO work for?

Every category we have measured. Local services, e-commerce, B2B SaaS, professional services, hospitality, healthcare, education, enterprise. The mechanism is the same. The intensity of the work is what changes: a competitive national category needs more PR and original research; a regional service business in a less competitive category can get into AI answers with much lighter investment.

Enleaf founder and CEO Adam Chronister is the author of Authority Engineering: How to Become the Brand AI Recommends, a field guide to building the distributed authority signals that AI systems, search engines, journalists, and customers use to decide who is credible. As he writes in the book, “Your job is no longer to be findable on the shelf. Your job is to be the advisor’s first call.” Adam speaks publicly on AI-era authority, and the same framework from the book powers every AI SEO engagement we take on.
